im being prescribed vyvanse. its the first time ill b taking anything 4 my adhd. any advise. should i ask 4 a different med?
Hello jerrylammonds. I am totally new to this, as my son has just begun Vyvanse this week. But I saw that no one has responded to your question so I thought I would offer what I have found out there. Of course there are a multitude of websites for ADD/ADHD. There are three links below to ones that I found helpful. Apparently, Vyvanse was created by the Shire Corporation in 1997 and there was some speculation that it would replace Adderrall. From what I have read, the majority of individuals with forms of ADD benefit from stimulant medications such as Vyvanse, Ritalin, Adderrall. It appears that the only non-stimulant medication is Strattera which works on a different chemical in the brain. The last link below describes some other medications that are helpful for ADD, such as ones that treat depression like Wellbutrin. If I am incorrect in any of this information, someone please let me know! Hope this helps:) Good luck.
I notied your question and saw that you were wondering about adderal versus vyanase. I actually am curious about the same thing, and I was curious if you foynd anything out? Also, I am finding it hard to stay on the dose prescribed to me, as it seems to stop working as well. I am on Ritilin and it doesn't seem to keep working at the same dose for very long. Anyway, let me know if you found anything out. Thanks sooo much and good luck.
I was diagnosed with extreme Adult ADHD. The first med I took was Vyvanse and worked great. I changed med plans and can't get Vyvanse. I've had problems with all the meds they've tried. I'm so tired all the time and can't seem to get anything done. I think Vyvanse is the best. Some meds won't address the tiredness just the ADHD other symptoms. Somehow I'm going to get back on Vyvanse don't give it up if it works for you.
