I am a 22 year old mother and have always thought I was just a huge procrastinator my whole life... never getting anything finished, ALWAYS waiting until the last minute... if even. Growing up my mother was against medicine, didn't feel it was "necessary". With age I've come to realize that maybe this is beyond my control. I literally have zero drive to do anything. A friend suggested adderall to help keep me focused and on track. I've taken it twice before and really enjoyed the outcome. I felt like a horse with blinders, versus a crazy eyed horse! lol. I'm also starting Real Estate classes soon and figured adderall would be the perfect thing to help keep me focused alongside being mommy and wife... Any suggestions? Comments?
Here's a suggestion, I would definitely get a diagnosis before trying to choose a med, there are countless conditions for which procrastination is a prevalent symptom, these include depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and even conditions such as simple vitamin deficiencies.
You say you took it twice and "really" enjoyed it, well of course you did, amphetamines make everybody feel good, that's what they do (via greatly increasing dopamine levels)... enjoyment of amphetamines is not a sign that
you have ADHD, it's just a sign that you're human.
There are a lot of symptoms that greatly help to differentiate ADHD from depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc. and most qualified psychiatrists can sort this out for you very easily. Hope this helps and good luck.
