I have been having extreme discomfort in my knees using steps and when sleeping. Love to walk but sometimes that is somewhat uncomfortable. In the morning when getting up my whole body is still, including fingers until after I get moving. Vioxx years ago helped more than anything but was taken off the market. Since I have tried Arthrotec, Diclofenac, Naprosin and now Piroxicam. None of them have relieved the pain. I do have a heart condition -cardiomyopathy , have a defib and pacemaker. I also have mild asthma. I am now seeing a rheumatologist who has tried the naprosin and Piroxicam. I was wondering if there is anything else out there that I could try or discuss with him. I'm having difficulty sleeping also because my leg wakes me up just throbbing. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
Hi Callie09. I was all ready to make a comment, concerning Your osteo, until I got to the part about Your heart problems. I have NO IDEA what type of pain killers, if any, that they will be able to give You, for the pain, but just going by modern science, and the way things are now a days, I feel like that these real smart doctors in today's world, will be able to find something that they can give You for the pain, eventually. Of course, they will be taking in to consideration all of Your heart issues, but I just feel like there is something out there that they can give You. Also Callie09, may I make a suggestion please; when it comes to GOOD medical advice, please listen to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, that itsmetoo2 has to offer You. You really got lucky here; she has some of the very best advice going on on this site. And there are a whole lot more of members too, but itsmetoo2 really has it going on. You can trust me on that.
Now, when it comes to the correct type of pain meds to use, for all types of conditions, there's a guy on here who goes by "MPVT", and I'm hoping that he sees Your post, and will comment on it as well. You'll get some great advice there also. Wish I could've been of more help to You Callie09. I wish You all the luck in the world, especially when it comes to Your osteo. (I have it real bad too!) Best of luck Callie09. Write anytime, and please let us know how it turns out for Ya. :-)
Hello, to try to be of any help, i am using (doctor prescribed)a steroidal topical ointment(from pain specialist recommendation)for my knee pain that is excruciating and though this doesnt make it all go away it eleviates the soreness and takes away a lot of the aching that just aches... so i like it for a pacifier..it is much like the well known "Biofreeze" which also works like a charm just very cold before it gets warm so some cannot tolerate! be patient! stay determined! good Luck!
hi callie 09,i have been taking glucosamine and condriden(spelling) for 4 years and the only thing that it is doing is costing me 16 bucks a bottle, but i keep taking it just in case it does kick in.you can try it but i dont give refunds. mine may be too far gone.but give it a try,it cant hurt.as far as knee pain goes the only thing that has helped is real pain meds that robed me of my health and sleep. that was morphine and i just would go up in doeses every few months. to geg off that stuff i got on suboxone and it seems to help with pain and not too many side effectes.good luck if you find something thats works please let me know... pete
