My psychiatrist just prescribed me a new anti depressant and its called Luvox or fluvoxamine. I was just wondering if it affects the effectiveness of my birth control pills. Also does grapefruit juice really make the pill less effective? If so, what about other citrus fruits like oranges and lemon juice? Thanks in advance!
Interactions with the Pill?

Are you on the usual estrogen/progestin pill? The luvox can raise the blood levels of the bc pill. What this would mean for you is you may have some side effects from the pill you didn't have before. Notice I say may, because this isn't something that is a hard and fast rule and it may do nothing too. Grapefruit won't effect either one of them. And when grapefruit does effect a drug its just grapefruit, not the other citrus fruits.
