And stay asleep--- any recommendations?
Gabappentin can cause have insomnia, has it ever helped you?
If you look at a list of rare side effects of gabapentin, insomnia is listed. I know, because I suffer from insomnia due to gab. I take it for fibromyalgia pain. You may be in the unlucky percentage that gets a wee bit hyper from it. I know I am.
I wish you ZZZZZZZZZZZZ's,
Personally I think sleep hygiene is critical. Studies show you need to go to bed and get up around the same time every day. Room should be dark and avoid tv, computers, etc., before bed as they will affect the ability of your brain to initiate the sleep process. Melatonin is a hormone that is produced in the body to start the process I believe. Some people (like myself) will get wired on benaydryl at the adult dose so I take one Advil PM and do fine. The Advil helps with body aches. Not sure it's a "good" inflammatory for your heart long term. With all this said, I work nights and I've not been very good at falling asleep very fast. So before bed, I use blue blocker glasses an hour or so before bed. Melatonin helps me with sleep cycles and I do use a low dose of Ambien. Sleep is a funny thing and some do better than others. My suggestion is to try to let your body do it's job if you can. I understand Melatonin is an antioxidant which is good. I argue that we need to sleep to be healthy and live long so do what you can.
