My doc says that if i get sleepy at lets say 9 pm, then just go to bed... even though my regular sleep time is at 10:30-11. I asked him what if then i wake up at 3 or 4 am ... he told me to just start my day. So should you just go to sleep when sleepy?
Hi (or should I say High) anxiety9, I've had sleep trouble since I was a kid, so I know what's it's like. Your question is tough. Especially since your doctor suggested that you sleep whenever you feel sleepy. What kind of doctor is he? My initial response would be to not do that. I would suggest that you stick to a routine. I believe that if you just start sleeping whenever you feel sleepy, you will have a harder time settling into a schedule. Are you taking any sleep meds? If so, you should have the luxury of following a schedule. If not, and your trouble is very severe, you may want to contact a sleep clinic. That idea of just sleeping at any time seems strange to me and not very condusive to a regular schedule. This is of particular concern if you are working. You also have to make sure that your sleep environment is as relaxing and comfortable as possible. I'm here if you want to talk more. Take care, keemo7
