but I am desparate for relief from depression and anxiety. Please does anyone know if this is worth a risk of side effects?
I've never been on this med but I know what it's like to live with depression & anxiety. If you've been seeing the same doctor that's prescribed this for you for awhile and you trust them then put your trust in their hands. They should already know whether the benefits outweigh the risks. I've been told by my doctor a couple times not to read each and every side effect as it can seem very scary. I'm not saying just go ahead and take anything you're prescribed without any though involved but I think if you have a good relationship with your doctor you should feel more assured they have your best interest at heart. In the end, if you do find you're suffering from unpleasant side effects you can always go back and voice your concerns. Hope it works for you and you find much needed relief. Take care, Kim.
Hello buzzlessbee. Emsan is from the MAOI family of drugs. I think/suggest you ask your doctor to put you on the older MAOIs that have been available for some years now but do carry thier share off restrictions. Diet being the main one. Most people taking any of the MAOI drugs because of the high rate of success, take the diet into thier daily lives , the inconvience and more often than not, continue on the MAOI. Best of wishes to you, pledge
This drug dramatically improved my life and I'm intolerant and resistant to every other psychotropic drug I've tried (except for Xanax). I have had few side effects except one that is considered "rare". If I can't work around it, I'll have to stop (although I don't want to.)
The only way to know is to try it. Or you can look into a genetic liver enzyme test that might narrow down for you and your doctor what drugs and dosages might work for you. It's still in it's infancy.
