I got endocarditis back in 09 and had to have open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve and patch up the mitrol valve. I'm having a hard time coming to terms with this and wondering if anyone else feels the same way?
Hon, it takes time to recover mentally, emotionally, physically. I got hit in 2001, and have a mechanical Mitral Valve. Take Coumadin for life. It interacts with every antibiotic except Amoxicillan and Penicillin. Also watch SSRI's I can only take Celexa. My shrink put me on a high dose of Xanax for the Cardiac Neurosis, and panic. It ruined my life, but I have bounced back. I am from England, now in the States all alone. I have no one. If the loneliness doesn't kill me maybe Coumadin will because I feel like I have a massive hole in my gut from having no one. Good luck and be well.
I just joined. I was sick for many months before I was correctly diagnosed with enterococal endocarditis and needed surgery for a replacement aortic valve and repaired mitral valve. It was followed 2 days later by emergency surgery to repair a torn heart muscle removing pacemaker wires. I was on 2 IV antibiotics and one, gentamicin, attacked my left ear leaving me with tinnitus and equilibrium issues. But, I'm alive and well, physically but am struggling emotionally but getting better so very slowly. So best of luck.
I got endocarditis a year ago and thankfully the 6 week period in hospital with antibiotic infusions every 3 hours worked. I still have strange symptoms like feeling dizzy, heavy upper body and keep thinking I have infection again. I saw my specialist a month ago and he feels I am fine. Any similar experiences?
I am also new to this and battling with strange symptoms. I got endocarditis last year and spent 6 weeks in hospital. Was on three hourly infusions of antibiotics. Thankfully the treatment worked. I have strange symptoms like dizzy head, heavy feeling in torso. I am so scared of re-infection. Does anyone feel the same?
