... I can barely walk now, pain and redness little swelling at site. I went in lake water for 5 minutes on 4th. I have appt w/ wound dr in 20 hours but I want to take cephalexin now. Would this screw up dr evaluating what kind of infection i may have? Fearful of a deep or horrid infection setting in to my ankle bone or blood?
Since your appt is less than a day away, I would wait and see. He will probably take a scraping of it to see what type of bacteria you have growing. Or he may have seen this type of infection many times and give you a good dose of anti-biotic injection, scrub it clean, to get you started. In any event, keep your eye out for any bluish lines going up your leg from the wound site, indicating the infection has gotten in to your blood. If so, seek medical attention asap. Good luck to you and hope you get good results and start to feel better soon!
Remember, watch for signs of blood poisoning, very important!
Take care and let us know how the appointment went.
it could be something as serious as cellulitis call your doc and don't let a receptionist tell you that there are no appointments cellulitis can result is a hosptialization if the redness keeps spreading and you can't see a doc go to the er this is nothing to ignore good luck and i hope this helps
