50mg zoloft at night and xanax as needed for anxiety Doc is thinking of weaning off the xanax as i have been on it for over 2 yrs and is trying what he referred to as an "old" medicine, Inderal which was originally rx'd as a high blood pressure treatment but the side effect is slowing of the heart. It definitely works on anxiety/nervousness (40mg twice a day) but am concerned about it dropping my bp too low (also take lisinopril for hb) anyone else taking this medication (for anxiety)?
Yes, I've been on inderal/propranolol for anxiety related hypertension, but it only seemed to work well in conjunction with a benzodiazepine. Did your doctor say he was going to keep you on lisinopril after starting inderal? Depending on the dose(s) this may or may not cause hypotension. Inderal is a Beta-Blocker and Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor so they work in 2 different ways. Hope this helps.
the doc never mentioned taking me off of lisinopril but im wondering if i can take both of them without going too low on bp
Yes, I take 80/day for anxiety. It is fabulous! I notice it tapering off throughout the course of this day but I would rather take this than a benzo. Great for tremors, too
