I've gone on fluoxetine for my anxiety but my panic attacks have become virtually hourly and I'm struggling to cope , I have been taking them for just over 2 weeks now and I'm being told to stick with it as the anxiety should subside but it just feels like hell. I am looking for reassurance and hoping that in another 2 weeks my panic attacks will have stopped as I can't live like this
I was taking Tryptophan herbal remedy and st Johns wort before that for yrs. It helped me to stay calm following some kind of post traumatic response to an incident back in 07.
The problem was that I would stop start because of price differences between suppliers and put off reordering from time to time. Then inevitably I would deteriorate and my mood would become volatile.
I had a chat with my doctor and he said that he thought that an SSRI would help but I decided to keep with the herbal tryptophan, until again I put off re-ordering and after 4 weeks I was becoming very stressed out and reacting on emotions, not realising how inappropriate this was in a work place.
I was recently prescribed Fluoxetine 20mg and it has been fairly unpleasant to say the least, spaced out, tired, head feeling tight around the front and staying in a lot.
Felt anxious also but after day 15 I feel better and I never reacted to a trigger yesterday, I'm really hoping that this is going to work for me and I know that the initial effects of fluoxetine are very unpleasant and can increase negative symptoms but I feel that it is worth going through this for some kind of balance because the alternative is just not acceptable anymore for me.
