In phila, PA. Simply trying to learn more about this condition, that i have had since 2005, any suggestions feel free...
vtech,I did some reading on this site that you may find to be helpful. There is a medication called Elmiron to is supposed to reduce flare-ups. Also it said that thid particular problem is very often misdiagnosed. I cannot help you find a doctor because I don't live anywhere near Philly. My advice is this, first go t the top of this website where you sign in. There is an area that says "search term". It explains in detail everything you may want to know about your codition. Also I think if I were you I would be seeking either a urologist or just go to your OBGYN and have him/her do some tests. Your pc maybe able to help with a referall. I hope this helped and I apoligize for not answering your question sooner Good luck Fall Queen
Fall Queen gave you some good advice. If I were you, I would check at Temple University. It may be the Boyer Pavilion, not sure. If your close to Temple, definately check it out. If nothing else, you could go in and find the info (drs names, departments,) And I'm thinking that because it's a teaching hospital, you may not need a referral. I might be wrong on that, but Temple is worth a try.
Good luck to you,
fall queen and christine thanks for responding, i started with this support group, because i needed a way to talk and be heard, because i am not crazy, but temple is out of the question they caused the mess that i am in, from 2005 to 2009, is how long i played the doctor patient misdiagnosis game, it left me in a pickle- but i took some control as best i know-it and saw too many specialists, not enough answers now i know to look for a uro-gynecologist for this problem but most hospitals ae not too informed about ic... this disease is kinda new, then my insurance have to be excepted so, here i am again looking and searching, but wih patience, so anyway i appreciated your houghts i need them right now,, i may even seek traveling to another city if the doctors are there that really deal with this problem, and they never told me that elmiron is a lower bllood thinner like coumadine or heparin so a dental appointment you will bbleed more, and it effects other things so i amjust paying attention to every thing and trying to be careful with my decisions you know... v-tech10
There are several good I.C. docs in the Philly area. You can go to the Interstitial Cystitis Association website at www.ichelp.org and click on "support," then "find a healthcare provider," and they will send you a list. You could also consider going to one of the support groups (also listed on the website) and ask people for their opinions about which doctors to go to.
I hope you find a good doc who is able to help you!
