the day i got this i was barely bleeding at all and you have to wait a week if you get it without being on your period so i did just to be sure and exactly a week after on the 7th day i had intercourse and i'm just wondering if i could be pregnant or the implant would have taken affect by now
This is what the manufacturer says. I would think you're pretty safe.
Implanon should be inserted between Day 1 (first day of menstrual bleeding) and Day 5 of the menstrual cycle, even if the woman is still bleeding.
If inserted as recommended, back-up contraception is not necessary. If deviating from the recommended timing of insertion, the woman should be advised to use a barrier method until 7 days after insertion. If intercourse has already occurred, pregnancy should be excluded.
Hey there, i recently got the implanon last tuesday so 6 days ago roughly. I'm 19 and I decided to go for the safest method possible. i did ask the nurse when i could have unprotected sex, and like you , i was more or less just finished my period there was very little bleeding etc. it was day 4 of my period they usually last about 5 days for me. she said that i would be ok to have sex straight away as i got it inserted during my period. it is only a precaution to use condoms/barrier method with implanon if it was inserted without a period . but to be honest with you, the clinic i got it done in, wouldnt allow me to get the implanon without having a period first as proof of not being pregnant but i also had to take a pregnancy test before they gave me the anaesthetic. i hope this helps and good luck. ( i had unprotected sex on saturday night) so that was 4 days after i had it inserted. good luck :)
