I will have had Implanon for two years this may of 2014. I am 17 years old. I live in the state of Louisiana and I was wondering if I can go to the doctors to get it removed soon, since I will be leaving to another state after I graduate in May. I want to get it removed now, but my mother says it's not a good idea. Can I make myself an appointment by myself and go by myself without her being there to get it taken out?
Implanon - Can I get this removed without my parent being there?
Added 7 Feb 2014:
( I apologize for so many details ) My sister had it for maybe a year, and she made her own appointment to get it taken out, but she is also 20 years old, so she has no 'guardian' per say. My mother thinks it's in my best interest to not get it taken out and not move away because she wants me to stay home(and do online college), but my sister is still 20 and is due to have her third baby in September. So I believe it is in my best interest to get it taken out because I didn't want or need this birth control in the first place, and I bleed so irregularly, like up to three or four months at a time and it's heavy. So I would just like to know whether I can make my own appointment to get it take out by myself, because I'm not so sure my mother is going to agree with me. I even have access to my medicaid cards and insurance and everything, as well as a vehicle to get there.
