I had the implanon for 5 years altogether and got it removed today and planned to change to the combined hormonal contraceptive pill. I had sex with my partner thinking it would be ok and then took the pill an hour after and then i read that you should use extra protection like condoms and that the pill takes up to 7 days to be effective :/ Is there a chance I could be pregnant?
I agree, you will probably be okay. Yes, there is a teeny slim chance of pregnancy but the odds are in your favor. HOWEVER I would go ahead and use condoms for the next week, as advised, just to be sure. It is unlikely that you ovulated the day your Implanon was removed but it becomes more likely that you could ovulate in the days following, before the pill has a chance to kick in. To be extra safe, it is best to use condoms the whole first cycle (or pack) of birth control pills.
