Having very bad hair loss, answers needed. only on phnatermine 4 1/2 months , lost 43 lbs. , dr says thyroid levels are good, BP is high , now concern with high chorestrol. any answers please
Hi katnerd - I also had much hair loss with thyroid problems. I initially started messing around with the amount of Synthroid I was on, because my metabolism is so slow, and I thought I needed more than I apparently do. It takes many weeks after adjusting the Synthroid to get accurate levels. So, I'm still frustrated with my levels as I just gained lots of weight, very quickly. Some of my meds interact with the correct level reading of thyroid levels, so we have to be careful to make sure we get accurate levels of T3, T4, and TSH, even tho' most Drs. think just one of those is enough. I'm on 112.5 plus 5 mcg. of Cytomel, the other thyroid med, but am ready to get a specialist involved. One thing, however, is that my hair is no longer falling out, after losing a good part of my eyebrows (typical thyroid place to lose hair), and some hair on my head, I rarely have to shave my legs anymore! That's the good news. The Singulair & the Phentermine tend to increase BP slightly, but a good daily walk or exercise helps a lot with the BP. Good luck, and be sure to ask the Dr. for every possible thyroid level, not just the one he/she thinks is enough to measure correctly. Good luck! J.
