... and I want off. Since 2008 I've gone from 32 mg to 1 mg (been on 1 mg for 1 month). From what I've read it seems that I'm in for a world of hurt b/c of how long I've been on the sub. Can I do this? Does anyone else have a similar story (ie: long time on sub and now clean?). Please help... any info would be appreciated. I've been following hope fuls thread and it's inspiring... very scary to me though. Thank you
Since you marked this "conversational" I'll make a suggestion. There are many members who will give you great advice on getting off the subs. Pattishan is down to .25mg and is starting to skip days as well. Also subzero58 has vast knowledge on weening off the subs. You could type in their names in the "Find Member" on the right side of your screen. Add them as friends and they will get notice on this question. You could also click on the "Forum-Discussion Boards" on the lighter blue bar at the top. Scroll down and click on "view forum leaders." It will say Forums... look at the group of topics to the right and click on "Need to Talk" Then it will bring you to a page where on the left says, "New Thread" Click on that and a box will come up that looks like an email box. On the subject line, type in an Attention grabber like, "Need Sub help asap" or whatever you want. Also, you can type in Robert_325 ( Find member), he is very well educated on suboxone. You could reach him in the Forum as I've rarely seen his posts over here in the community. I know it's a little confusing but be patient. There are many wonderful people here who will take the time and help you through this. Good luck to you and have a great weekend!
And listen to your own body, it will tell you when it is time to taper. Walking or other lite regular exercise will also help you. It will start you releasing endorphins, the natural feel good chemicals. Helps regulate eat/sleep/wake cycle. If you can't skip a day at .25, (and I am finding that a little harder than I thought at first) go as long as you can go. Taking it at night at that point is probably better.
