I went to an urgent care for back pain and blood in my urine. The diagnosis was kidney stones. I was prescribed 10 vicodin for the pain. Probably about a 3 day supply. Three weeks later (20 days to be exact), my symptoms returned and I went to another urgent care - I had blood in the urine, back pain and the Doctor took xrays and confirmed visually that I had kidney stones. She then prescribed 20 vicodin for the pain. I had told her I had kidney stones before but I don't think i told her that they were that recent. Is this considered doctor shopping? Do you think it wall cause any red flags? If so do you thin I will be reported to the authorities?
No. It's not very likely. You were only given 10 pills on your first visit. The second visit was necessary because the pain returned unexpectantly.. However, it's to the point now where you really need to see a doctor for these stones. If you return to the urgent care for more meds (without following up with a doc) then you might run in to trouble. Please make an appointment asap to get the proper care for these stones. Good luck to you and have a wonderful new year.
