But I need a refill on my prozac and nugivil shes been prescribing me. I know I have to find another Dr. but I don't have one rite now. what can I do, before I loose it? i know a lot of you understant coming off an antidepressent how i'm feeling, it's very miserable. my moods are so drastic, just need some advice if any1 has any. Thanks
Will she fill one more time until you can find a new Dr? Usually if Drs let someone go from their practice they make recommendations for a new doc. The only other thing you may try is to see if urgent care will see you and refill it one time and give you a referral to a new Dr. Is this a primary care Dr or a psychiatrist? If it is a psych Dr maybe your primary care Dr will fill one time until you find a new psych Dr. All you can do is ask. Be sure you find someone or get an appt before you get close to running out. For most Drs, it is a while to get a new patient in, so start finding someone now!
As DzooBaby recommends, contact the prescribing doctor and get at least a one month refill. They are required by law, I believe, to accomadate you for one month upon terminating you. Then get busy and find a new doctor being sure to explain your situation to the intake secretary so they can get you in sooner hopefully.
You really shouldn't just stop the Prozac or the Nuvigil. The withdrawl symptoms will be very uncomfortable to say the least. Are you completely out of medication now?
Contact the doctor's office asap and see what you can get worked out.
You need to get on the phone and be firm with these people. Like Laurie said, I believe she is correct that they have to care for you for a month after they release you to give you time to find someone new. Has it been longer than a month? If so, why did you wait so long? You should not run out of these meds and if something ever happens again make sure you get the ball rolling right away because these things do take time sometimes! If you cant get the Dr that released you to write another fill then you need to get on that phone and be very firm on getting an answer from your primary care Dr. He may want to see you before he prescribes anything and if he does make an appt asap! Be insistent that they give you some kind of answer today since it is Friday, if he is even in today. The only other option you have is possibly urgent care but that will be more expensive than seeing your PCP. Dont keep waiting around! Nothing will happen until YOU make it happen.
You have to be proactive in your own health! Take charge, girl! :) Tell them how bad you feel and tell them you really need an answer one way or the other. If he wont fill it, then ask for a referral or a few to some other Drs who may be able to get you in! Remember this as a learning experience and if it happens again in the future get things rolling before you run out of medicine. Once you are down to a months supply you should be on the phone making arrangements-dont wait until the last minute! Sorry, I dont mean to jump all over you but your Dr gave you fair warning and you should have been taking care of this before you ran out. But this is a good learning experience for you! :) I hope you get someone to help you and you feel better soon!
