Hello. I don't have a suggestion for where you begin with medicaid/medicare, other than speaking with your doctor and asking to be referred to a gastroenterologist (I think this type of doctor is the one who does this type of procedure). The gastroenterologist will be the one who would need to certify that the surgery is needed for medical reasons and not cosmetic reasons, which wouldn't be a covered surgery. I'm not sure how medicaid/medicare works, whether it covers that type of surgery at all. But the doctor is the most knowledgeable one and can answer your questions.
Secondly, have you tried the HCG injection diet? My husband is 5'9" and weighed 305 at his heaviest. On the 42-injection diet, he lost 50 lbs. and plans to go on the diet again. I lost 30 lbs. (5'0" & 165 starting weight). This diet takes dedication and some preparation, but is well worth the effort. However, it is not covered by insurance and is by prescription only. It can be purchased on the internet, but I would highly recommend you doing it under a doctor's supervision.
I applaude you -- making the choice between food and your health/body image is a tough one, and I will say a prayer for your willpower and success. Blessings to you!
