Im 23. 2 weeks ago (about 12 weeks after the Vaginal Delivery of my first child) I had the IUD Mirena placed. I have heard many stories about women who have become pregant while they had their IUD in place. Some women say they were pregnant before and didnt know it while others became pregnant months later. They say Mirena is 99.99% effective, so why are there so many stories about women getting pregnant while using it?
I am breastfeeding and I have read about many women that love their Mirena and many who have had theirs removed because they didnt like it. Are any of these women breastfeeding? Id like to know what some women who are breastfeeding have to say about Mirena. I have had no problems or periods so far but am I the only one breastfeeding and using Mirena?
After I had my second child I got the Mirena IUD put in and I breastfeed him until he was a year old. I never had any problems with the IUD other than having heavier and longer periods. That is the only reason I ended up having mine taken out. There aren't many options out there for women who are breastfeeding when it comes to birth control. The IUD was one of the only things that were safe that would ensure that I wouldn't get pregnant again.
