Some say they gain weight, and some say they lose weight with the medication. Could be your individual intakes in general that cause a weight gain or lose (not sure). But anyway, my question is this: The instructions say to take calcium 4 hrs after the med; to take the med on an empty stomach; and to avoid soy products, fiber, and cotton seed. Helllllooooo... All breakfast products have calcium or fiber these days, and the instructions say to avoid soy products and cottonseed. EVERYTHING in the supermarket has either soy, cottonseed, calcium, and or fiber. What do you guys find to have for breakfast that doesn't have any of those things? I'm desperately looking for breakfast ideas. Anybody have any ideas???

I'm also wondering. Does the "no fiber, soy, or cottonseed" mean you can't ever have another apple or product with those things, or do you just have to wait 4 hours like with the calcium. Any help on all the above would be very appreciated. To include concerns about people saying this drug makes you gain weight. Is that true?
You are probably taking the advice to literally.
Yes you should take levothyroxine on an empty stomach, half an hour, to an hour or so before your breakfast because food can slow down its absorption.
You should avoid a high fiber diet and soy supplements... but a normal amount of fiber is ok (as found in breakfast cereal) as is soy found in our foods.
If you are taking a calcium supplement you should take it 4 hours before or after levothyroxine as it can reduce its efficacy.
As to the side-effects of levothyroxine they are rare unless your dosage is too high.
