At first it was just hard for me to fall asleep(took 2 hours for me to fall asleep), now I can't sleep at all. I'm up all night and I haven't had a good nights rest in 3 months. I tried all of the natural ways to get rid of insomnia but that didn't work, so I went to my doctor. I tried everything:Ambien,Altivan, Lunesta, Valium, Depakote, Risperedal... none work. they all worked only ONCE on the first night, and not the 2nd night. and even when I took them i would wake up atleast once. please help me I don't know what to do anymore. Last night i took ambien at 4 a.m and it didn't affect me at all I don't feel tired or anything and I'm going crazy now. I want to take lunesta, ambien, and altivan together tonight but I'm scared. someone please help me
I'm 19 years old and I've had insomnia all my life, tried everything, please help?

im sorry for the horrible grammar but I'm tired and irritated. Insomnia's affected my life so much that i even had to drop out of college.
Dont take everything together. You might not wake up at all! I know it is very frustrating when you cant sleep. Have you tried a low dose of Elavil? Like 25-50 mg. It is very good for a sleep aid. It is actually an antidepressant but has drowsiness as a side effect. I have used it in the past and it works pretty well. I, too, can take Ambien, Lunesta, Ativan, Valium, Xanax, Dalmane. Restoril, even Seconal etc and it does nothing to me. I used to be able to even take Halcion (which is not even on the market anymore) and not be phased by it! If the lower doses of Elavil dont help they can raise it to a higher dose pretty safely. It will give you a dry mouth all day though-that is a main drawback but I used to chew sugar free gum to help with that.
^Thank you for your recommandation! I will definately talk to my doctor about it and I don't even care about the side-effects anymore as long as I can sleep..I'm so sick and tired of crying my a** off all the time just to get one hour of rest. I even tried to make myself sick just so I can be admitted at a hospital and get that injection that knocks you out.
I remember that feeling. I now take 100mg of trazedone at bedtime. It takes about half an hour to work. I have been on it since 2007 and it still works the same. I don't get drowsy either. I can get up at night to go to the bathroom and go back to sleep. In the morning I am not drowsy at all. Hope this helps. Take care of yourself. smileyhappy.
Hi! I'm 25 and I've had the same problem. I was diagnosed with insomnia when I was 20 and I've also tried EVERYTHING. Ambien worked the best for me out of everything, but "best" was not good at all. I also found my self taking 1, 10mg pill at 9pm, then again around 12am, again around 3am, and so on. Eventually it would be 8am and I was still up and had taken 3-4 pills, sometimes more and going on 3 days of NO sleep (ughh). I also tried exercising, breathing exercises, turning off all technology at bedtime, plus much, much more. Then I also tried over-the-counter medication, herbal, homeopathic & home remedies; still NOTHING worked. I %100 understand how stressful, annoying & over whelming it is and how much of an impact it has on your life.
I also went to college, but I did manage to graduate (barely) & ironically in the medical field (which I currently can't work doing, because of this right now & am stuck modeling to get by) but I've never came across anyone with a severe case like myself, or bad at all for that matter. The mojority of people I've came across have had, slight to moderate cases. Anyway, I know it's been a while since you wrote your post, but hopefully you will get my response & maybe we can bounce ideas off of each other :) Hope to hear back from you!!
Sleepless in Rhode Island :P lol
