I wanna know if abilify will help me with my PTSD,ADHD,Depression, and Bipolar without effecting me in my music and sports. Can yous please help?
Abilify can help with your depression. I take it daily and it has helped me a lot. It helps with other symptoms of depression that the antidepressants don't take care of. It helps me feel somewhat more normal. I would highly recommend it for Depression. As for ADHD, Bipolar and PTSD I personally don't think it will work do to the fact that I have PTSD and ADHD as well and it doesn't do anything for either of them. As for Bipolar, I'm not sure. It might be beneficial. Give it a try and see what you think. Also it will not effect your performance when it comes to music and sports. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Hi abilify is an medicine that they are using for a lot of conditions now a days. Originally it was used for people with severe psychosis and it seemed to help with that. Now they use it as an adjunct or even primary condition for biplolar, depression along with another antidepressant and ptsd. I have not heard it used for adhd but do know that it does possess some stimulant activity that some adhd patients have a paradoxical effect and calms them down. will it effect your music and sports, everyone is diffrent, is the ptsd, adhd, depression and bipolar affecting your music and sports. if so then a treatment might help it, but i dont know if abilify is approved for under 18 years of use, i would have to look that up. I hope your in therapy and working thru some of these things. You have a long great road ahead of you and keep asking questions and sort it out. You seem to be dealing with alot and ultilize what you can with school, guidance and counseling, these can be valuable tools for you. I wish you the best.
i dont think this is approved for your age group. But as for the question this med can be used for each of the disorders (not 100% on the ADHD but theoreticly it should). Abilify as well as most antipsychotic medications regulate neurotransmiter activity (reduction of norepinephrine might agitate ADHD but help with the PTSD and bipolar symptoms, which by the way do you have Bipolar I-mania and depression phases- or bipolar II-depression and "normal" phases?). The med may make you tired while taking it (some people get to the point that they are "zombie like" but thats not everyone). anyway this may subside but it shouldnt interfere with your life as long as no severe side effects show
at your age any doctor would be reluctent to prescribe an antidepressant (hormonal changes can cause BIG problems with these meds) so an antipsychotic is going to be the same way. A benzodiazepine (clonazepam being one) has been shown to help depression and PTSD (and in my opinion would be good for ADHD and Bipolar more so than adderall... ) howevere these can become addictive and have really bad withdrawals if your body becomes dependant (therapy is the most important part of any drug treatment in my opinion. 50% of people who dont have therapy with drug treatment see no change in mood... You may want to try looking up cognitive behavioral therapy in your area. It is one(and in my opinion the best) of the best treatment systems for anxiety and depression acompanied/followed by psychotherapy with a councelor)
I also have ptsd and depression abilify has helped me with these things as a add on to my depression medicine. My depression medicine is prestiq and it dosnt make me as "spacy" as other antidepressants has. How ever I take the abilify at night because when I tried it during the day it totally wiped me out. I know everyone is different but taking it at night has been really working for me. I have also heard that abilify does work for bipolar disorder. Abilify has made a positive diffeerence in my life after I started taking it before bed time. Sometimes we need to try many medications before we find the correct combination that works best for our body. It can be frusterating but don't give up. Continue to let your doctor know what works and what dosnt and you will find the correct combo of medicine that will help you feel better. Good luck and I hope this helped.
Stacii12; You're not old enough to carry that kind of a load. Who told you that you had all that shit ! I have a lot of misgivings about a lot of Drs. but I find it hard to believe that a Dr. would pick on a 14 yr. old girl just to make money. Was it a Dr. who told you all that crap... or was it one of those things we call friends. Finally, if it was a Dr. WHERE WERE YOUR MOM & DAD? Stacii12 it's absolutely imperative that you get a second opinion , and even a third opinion wouldn't hurt. Somebody has filled that pretty head of yours full of baloney. Sacosam
