I have been taking Benicar for >5 yrs and have repeatedly experienced a very pronounced reaction to direct sun exposure. Although I have noticed no difference in the way my skin tans, I consistently experience severe, long-term itching (the more sun I get, the longer it seems to last) that doesn't respond to oral or topical antihistamine (I tried MANY--including a very expensive prescription spray). The only relief I have found comes from ice rubbed on my skin, or ice packs held directly on the skin. When the skin gets warm, it starts itching again. The itching has continued for as long as 4 or 5 months after the exposure. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska, and get virtually no exposure for nearly 9 months of the year.
