Why is Norco able to be faxed to the Pharmacy, where as my Roxicodone and Methodone have to have a hard copy taken to the Pharmacy, they can not be faxed. I believe they are a lower class of medication.
Good question! Norco and Lotab are hydrocodone which is a Schedule 3 drug per the controlled subtance act. Schedule 3 drugs can be called/faxed into the pharmacy and are allowed refills, I believe it is 5 refills in 6 months before a new script is needed. Roxicodone (oxycodone) and Methadone are Schedule 2 drugs. Schedule 2 drugs have a higher abuse potential therefore they cannot be called into the pharmacy and they cannot have refills. You must bring a hardcopy script to the pharmacy for each fill.
