Hey aheckrich,

Lexapro (escitalopram) and Celexa (citalopram) though related are not the same medication. The recommended dose for Lexapro (escitalopram) is 10mgs to 20mgs once daily while the recommended dose for Celexa (citalopram) is 20mgs to 40mgs once daily. While Lexapro and Celexa are both SSRI's with similar though not identical chemical make up, they are not the same and can not be exchanged as such. It is always best to wean off one antidepressant while starting another so from that stand point going from 10mg Lexapro to 20 mg Celexa would be ok.

Hope this helps,
