Is there anyone else out there that has gone through pregnancy and been on suboxone that can ease my mind a little bit?
I honestly have no idea. I took / and still take Effexor when I was pregant and klonopin, both which are a big no, but my dr. said i needed them. personally i think you have to weigh the pros and cons - like if you can wean off of it, will you be ok? if that's the case, why take a risk. but if you can't, then you can't. why are you on it in the first place?
I'm not sure what happened to my answer. I swear I answered this. Oh well. I was on suboxone when I was preg. The doctor quickly switched me to subutex as soon as I told him. Naxalone may be unsafe for the unborn. Everything went great. My doctor strongly advised me not to get off or taper while preg but I tapered anyway from 8-4mg because of guilt and fear of the baby's withdrawal. Nobody wants that for their baby. My boy was born 8lbs 15oz. He is 4 months now, healthy, beautiful. NO SIGN of withdrawal occurred.
I was taking suboxine while pregnant and had a healthy baby boy, who weighed 7lbs. The drug kept me clean and sober. The medical staff at UCLA was trying to find something wrong with my baby and couldn't. They looked down upon me for taking the medication and called CPS. CPS can go F&^% themselves.
My son is doing great and so am I. He is ahead at four months and already meeting his 6 month milestones. I stared at 16 mg and went down to 2mg during the course of nine months. I am so thankful for this drug and that is was safe for my baby. I was nervous my whole pregnancy. My doctor is amazing. If anyone lives in Los Angeles and needs a good doctor let me know. He has 20 plus years of addiction specialty.
