I was recently prescribed Soma for the and I want to know the physical effects of my first time. I am about to take Soma for the first time, one pill at 350mg, to start. What should I expect of the effect?
Soma (Carisoprodol) is a muscle relaxer that works by blocking pain sensations between the nerves and the brain.
Everybody responds differently to medication. It may make you feel drowsy and a little happy and relaxed. Here are some comments from patients who have taken Soma.
my Dr had me on somas for my lower back aches, the 1st time i took them, i had a horrible experience, i took one and forgot i had taken it , this happend untill i took 4 all together and , i lost my balance went flying across the yard and could not stop untill fell down and broke my wrist, another side effect was that i slured when i talked, i felt very relaxed but i really had a horrible time walking and talking ,so my advice is take what your dr precribed,
I have been on soma since '06 and think it is a wonder drug! I still only take 1/2 to 1 pill an hour before bed as a muscle relaxant for my neck and shoulders. For me, it has a great 'side effect' of "letting" me sleep! As long as you follow the directions and plan to stay IN bed for 7-8 hours, you should be able to wake up in the morning with no "hang over" feeling.
Good luck to you, Mary, madhatter
