... mg. So far just feeling a little stoned, soda is starting to taste funny and sleeping through the morning alarm clock. At what dose can I expect the memory loss and loss of appetite to start? Has anyone has any experience with the hair loss associated with this drug. Hair loss happens, I'm totally off the drug. Period. Will the grogginess go away?
I was just put on topamax for depression and migraines. I just increased the dose last night to 50?

I also take prozac, concerta, trazadone, buspar, and abilify. My cockttail I call it. Bad thing is...I'm still depressed. Hoping the addition of the topamax will help. Any success stories for depression would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hey Kelly J,
You may not experience any memory loss or hair loss. I was put on topamax years ago and it didn't affect my appetite either though, as you know, it might. The recommended dose for migraine prophylaxis is 100mg/day in two dividied doses. With the other meds you are on, you might not need that much. Give it a good trial and see how it works for you. I think if you were going to have adverse effects you would notice in the first few weeks after increasing the dose. Hopefully, you will be one who doesn't have any problems.
Hi, Kelly J:
I see you're just starting out on Topamax. I currently take 200mg in morning and 200mg at night for migraine prevention. I started at 100mg for both doses and increased to 200mg. I didnt have really have any side effects that lasted more than 2-3 days after starting the higher dosage. At the same time, I was also taking Celexa,(antidepressant), Savella (fibromyalgia), Buspar, Mirtazapine (antidepressant but being used for another condition). I have never taken Abilify, but I have used Prozac in the past. It may take a couple days to get the therapeutic level built up in your system. Hence you may experience the dizziness, or oddities you might be having right now. They should clear up very soon. I've never heard any such thing as to hair loss being a side affect for any of them. Laurie has given you a lot of information as well, and I've found that she is always right on target in her answers.
I hope this helps you in your search for information. You can always research any drug you are taking right here on Drugs.com. They have a huge library of prescription drugs that give you tons of information about each one you want to look up: dosages, side effects, interactions, etc. Good luck with your medications, and I hope you find the relief you are seeking.
