... first time tonight and im always nervous befour taking something new. i have tried almost every sleep med and they either didnt work or had bad side effects. im also on 1mg klonopin twice a day for anxiety but that doesnt do anything to help me sleep so that why my doctor added the trazodone. if anyone could share your experiences with it i would really appreciate it
0726, I ws prescribed trazadone once for sleep. I slept O.K. but I I had some really weird dreams things like people chasing me to kill me, I know this sounds really stupid but I always heard when you die in a dream/nightmare, that you would really die. Sorry I never took it again. I aslo am on Klonopin 2mgs. 2x a day. the trazadone might work well for you and you may have no adverse side effects. Have you ever tried Lunesta? I think that was the best sleeping pill I ever took. It was only about a week (after my dad died) but they worked. ld also try some natuarl sleep aides like meltonin, I do know they have worked well for alot of people. I would not be afraid to try this new med. Fall Quieen
I've been on both trazadone and klonopin to treat my periodic limb movement disorder basically muscle spasms that would occur while I was trying to fall asleep. I took 1mg of klonopin at night before I went to bed which helped both my PLMD and poblems falling asleep. At one point he prescribed me 50mg of trazadone to take at night as it seemed the klonopin was becoming ineffective. This helped except I would wake up feeling groggy but it could also have been the combination of Other meds I was on affecting my norepinephrine levels to treat my depression and anxiety. The insomnia and anxiety could be interrelated it's all about the imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain I think and finding the right combination to restore the balance. I would try the trazodone at night when you go to bed and see how it works.
Are you taking any anti-depressants that affect norepinephrine reuptake by chance? If so I would consult with your doctor about switching to just an SSRI ant-depressant. When I was taking SSNRI I do remeber having insomnia when I was on this type of anti-depressant.
