... a health center then were giving me meds i got from the pain clinic and then stop because of the abuse and now they are trying this and that which i've had and now i'm thinking about going back to the pain clinic to get what works for me and i was thinking that a pain clinic kinda of override the doctors office and health center is that true
I saw my Pain Clinic doc 2 days ago because I wanted off the Methadone they prescribed for me 10 years ago. I was geared up for a real fight because I hated how 50mg of Methadone did to me & made me feel. I wanted back on my Vicodin, but she told me that the Feds are all over their a$$es because of all these drugs hitting the streets. Anyway I was prescribed a long acting time released Morphine called Embeda. I guess my point is if you are wanting real help for your chrontic, a Pain Center is the place to go to not usually just your regular doctor. As for whether the pain center overriding the Health Center & Doctors office, you would be required to sign a contract that you don't get pain meds from any other source than the Pain Center. If you do , & they find out about it, they will not let you return or ever write you another prescription. I personally think this is a good practice. It helps weed out the junkies, & protects the doctors at the same time. Good luck & best wishes to you.
I see a pain management doctor who is a specialist in working with internal medicine, I think everywhere it is a problem doctor have to be cautious about prescribing, but I think as a patient who has great concerns about the doctor and also about getting good care, I take my medications in to her office so she can see for herself what I have taken, I keep a record of when I take the medication, then she has a copy of what I have written and my medicine can be accounted for, and I did volunteer for her to do random bllod and Urine drug screens anytime she requests it, so I am trying hard to make it easier for her to be able to treat my pain, whatever place you choose to go I wish you the very best of luck, the more information you give them then they are armed with information in order to better treat you. please feel free to keep us posted, there are a lot of compassionate caring people who I am proud to know, feel free to keep us posted.
I would recommend choosing one place to get your pain meds and not "shop" around. You are asking for trouble especially if any of them had you sign a contract about only using one place to get your pain meds.
The pain clinic may be more specialized in the care of pain then the GP or the Health clinic you speak of, but without knowing the particulars it is hard to say.
What kinda pain do you have? What have you tried? There is alot of experience and knowledge on this subject at this site so keep us posted,
