I was diagnosed with CHF 2 years ago. I also have a a couple of relatives and a friend with CHF. These are the things we were all told.
No smoking!
Don't add salt to food. Check labels and buy foods with the least amount of salt!
Reduce fluids to around 64 to 80oz. daily. (That's about 2 1/2 liters or a little more than 1/2 gallon a day. This includes water, coffee. tea, juice etc.
Weight yourself EVERY DAY and keep a record!
Watch for swelling in legs and ankles! If you do have swelling, lie down and
elevate legs ABOVE YOUR HEART FOR ABOUT 30 minutes!.
Take medications exactly as prescribed!

If you have any of the following, call your Doctor:
Trouble breathing!
Coughing. If you have a cold, get checked anyway, just in case.
If you gain more than 3 lbs in a week! It could be fluid building up and this could be serious!
Extreme fatigue!
Anything else that really concerns you, such as a possible reaction to a medication!

My relatives and I have been following these guidelines and we are all doing
very well. I hope this helps and I wish you the best. free discount card
