You can't just stop taking Xanax once your body has become use to taking it because of the risk of a seizure. If really want to stop you'll have to taper off this medication to prevent withdrawals. It can take weeks for it to completely leave your system, but the panic attacks may return within days. Please consider a slow taper overtime to not only avoid withdrawals but also to see how you do with the panic attacks.
It should be out of your system in 3-5 days and your panic attacks would probably return if you havn't found a different way to stop them like counsling or meditation. I have been on 2mg klonopin 3 times a day since I was 16 and now I'm almost 25. Inbetween doctors I had to go 2 months without and I had even tapered it off over a month and it was like a nonstop panic attack for 2 months. I couldn't even sleep for than half an hour at a time. Make sure you have a back up plan and a way to get your medicine back if your back up plan fails. Good Luck!
