I have been on Methadone for about 2 yrs. I was on 100 mg now down to 76mgs. It seems like it has taken forever just to go down that little bit. I work in a very upscale profesional atmosphere w/ people who knew my "real story" they would die. Anyway, I need to work and function as I am a single mother. Meth has taken over my life and I am done. Does anyone have any advice on how to get off in a reasonable amount of time w/o seriously going through hardcore withdraw, Even if I have to go away for 7-10 days... Anything... Thanks
Unfotunately carrie, the rule of thumb for methadone taper is " the slower the better". It is a long process, but if you go too fast the withdrawals can be hell, to put it mildly. There is the Waismann method which you can investigate by going to: http://www.opiates.com/methadone/methadone-addiction.html?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=methadone%2Baddiction&utm_content=Methadone%2BAddiction&utm_campaign=methadone
Otherwise, gonna have to be patient and work your way down.
