What is initial dose and reduction rate?
I am a bit confused by your post, is your goal to be off dilaudid and other opiates or is it to switch to methadone for better pain relief. Methadone is THE longest acting pain med there is and is used for pain management but is nothing to play around with as far as taking it without a drs guidance. It blocks other opiates, it also can cause slowed breathing, shouldn't be used with any other med that slows breathing, such as benzos and muscled relaxers. You also can build a tolerance to it. If your goal is to be off opiates like dilaudid, may I suggest subutex or suboxone as a better option. Please add any info to you post and clarify what your goal is, you used the word detox, which normally to us here means you want off dilaudid, subutex or suboxone may be a much better route. Patti
