Ok first off, it sounds like you need to seek more opinions from other doctors. And Im 23 with arthritis in my spine, knee and ankle, along with Myofascial Pain Syndrome and muscular dystrophy, I get the pressure point injections into my muscles all the time, the only ones that hurt are the ones in the lower muscles. I also have had the nerve ending burnt off to stop some of the pain, and it was unsuccessful. But they numb the area and it hurts alittle. But you have to take into consideration how much pain you are in right now and the pros and cons of the shot. And you can deny to have shots, they can't make you take the shots, and you should be allowed to have the pain meds if you are in pain. If I where you, I would find another doctor, go to 10 different ones if you have to, until you feel comfortable with that doctor and they explain your procedures. The doctor you have now, doesn't seem very ethical.
Is the kind of shot you are getting called; tomur? After diagnosed with RSD 11 1/2yrs ago my 1st pain doctor did give me a set of 12 Sympathetic Lumbar Blocks which were done in the hospital as an outpatient. They were uncomfortable and later I found out extremely dangerous. I also found out I should have never had that many "blocks" done on the bottom of my spinal cord in only 3mos and should've never had that many done in even a few years. I now have scar tissue from this and it caused the spread of RSD to that area.
You need an Oncologist for your cancer.
I'm not a doctor, nurse, anything but a chronic pain sufferer/survivor.
I would call Tenncare and ask them what you should do about this as you should have a case manager.
I do know from someone who lives in TN that they have more rights as patients than I do in the state I live in. Find out what your rights are as a patient also.
I wish the best for you and hope this helps.
PM me and tell me what part of TN you are in as my friend goes to UT and has a great doctor there. If you are close, maybe that would help as he is also on the same Tenncare.
