... in my family. I tried to stop taking it (20mg XR) but when I didn't take it, I felt like I was having a panic attack and I couldn't control my temper. How do I stop taking it without those side effects? I also take Fluxotine, generic for Prozac
You have been prescribed this med for a reason,i'm guessing for anxiety/panic attacks. I understand you being worried about becoming addicted, but once you are taking the prescribed amount only,i can see no harm in taking this medication.
Sometimes we have to take meds to make daily living easier.
You are already aware of the addictive side of these meds,so i would'nt worry too much once you're taking them as prescribed.
These meds can be very effective, although addictive, yet when taking properly they are safe.
Hope this helps ease your mind, please dont stress over becomming addicted,if they are making you feel better and less anxious then dont make yourself worse by worrying about the addiction side.It seems you have that under control with just the knowledge that they can be harmful when abused,so stick with what you're prescribed and you'll be fine.
Best wishes to you and take care
