that niacin can help with anxiety and depression? I just found that out on a site i was reading up on.
Niacin is vitamin B-3, one of the water soluble B-complex vitamins. One of niacin's unique properties is its ability to help you naturally relax and get to sleep more rapidly at night. And it is well established that niacin helps reduce harmful cholesterol levels in the bloodstream. Abram Hoffer, M.D., Ph.D. explains: "Niacin is one of the best substances for elevating high density lipoprotein cholesterol (the "good cholesterol) and so decreases the ratio of the total cholesterol over high density cholesterol."
Another niacin feature is its ability to greatly reduce anxiety and depression.
just thought i would paste that and share for anyone who didnt know this:) oh and it does cause flushing(redness of the skin and itching, but it doesnt last long, and after you take it for awhile that goes away, and they say to slowly up your dose and its best to take it after you eat or with a small snack)
yes it did give me the flush at first, the doctors told me it would and best to take at night, however the flushing doesnt bother me,it goes away fairly quickly, but now i dont get that effect anymore, however the doctors want me to take more than what im taking, which im sure will start to flush again. the first time i took it,i couldnt believe how red my body got and the itching,i wonder what causes that anyway? i will look into the SR,i didnt even know about that one,so thanks:)
