i don't want to tell my doctor how many i take because im scared he will stop giving them to me. but im in so much pain each day that if i take the max dosage its not enough. what do i do. sooner or later will my liver fail? should i ask for a different medication? im addicted to codine.
Dear Codine,First off I would like to ask that anyone asking about there meds please look them up on this web site so as to make it easier to answer your questions. Most of the time when trying to help someone I find I have to get to the actual name versus generic to begin.I am unsure of the meds you are currently taking, also are you seeing a pain control specialist or orthopedic?Who ever you are seeing and is perscribing your medication needs to be aware that the dosage or it could even be the medication itself that is not keeping your pain under control. Please always keep a current list of the meds you are taking with you to every Dr!s appt. that way they will work together in getting you the best relief possible. Also you definetly need your Dr to know you are maxing out. That is the only way he knows what treatment or med changes you may need Also one of the best things you can do to help is by keeping a journa ,as well as a notepad. When you are to have ab appt. at the Dr. you will have your questions ready as well as they will take a few minutes to see uyour journal which would also help them understand when your pain is worse if at all possible to make some life changes to help you.I will keep you in my prayers and wish you the best of luck. But above all else be honest with your Dr.remember he can stop these
meds altogether if you and them are not on the same line of thinking. Also in your journal I would add a pain scale at the top of each page and give your pain a number whenever you write in your journal.1 being the least to 10 being the most severe where as you cannot funtion at all.Show also whether or not it was before or midway through your last dosage of pain mends. Good Luck,Kathysbest
