Does this regimen hinder the absorption of either Synthroid or Fosamax. I wait at least an hour after taking Fosamax before eating breakfast. Also I have recently had thyroidectomy and radiation treatment for thyroid cancer (within the last 6 months). Should I be taking Fosamax at all because of potential jaw necrosis?
You are doing the right regimen keeping them apart and not eating for an hour. Sorry to hear about the cancer. I am dealing with cancer myself but a different kind. No fun. I would ask your doctor about the jaw problems though soon so you don't have something else to worry about, cancer is bad enough. Good luck in your recovery, hope all goes well for you. I will be thinking of you.
So sorry to hear about your cancer. I, too, had cancer - breast cancer - and need to take arimadex nightly. That med actually dissolves bones. I have had a couple fractures (arm and foot) so now I take fosamax. I also take synthroid, and the pharmacist said I could take the two meds at the same time when I need to take the fosamax once a week. And I wait at least 30 minutes before breakfast. I wonder if that is the right thing to do.
