if i continue taking the lactulose, will the cramps lessen after continued use, or (dare i hope) go away completely? i am taking the lactulose for chronic constipation.
You should start out with a lower dosage of lactulose. I would suggest no more than one tablespoon (15 ml.). Take that for three days and then increase the dosage by one teaspoon. Follow the same pattern increasing the dosage by one teaspoon every three days. When you get to the point where you literally explode every day with a bowel movement that you cannot ignore or hold back, keep this dosage indefinitely. If you do this, you won't have the bothersome cramps, but you will keep completely regular!
