I've read on some sites not to use both concurrently. I have been taking ambien for months, pretty regularly for insomnia. Have just decided to try St John's Wort for depression, on my own, not on doctor's advice. (He prescribed zoloft, but I'm afraid of it and the side effects!) If I have to choose between sleep and mild depression, I'll choose sleep! Thanks for any advice!
I (absolutely) would speak to my doctor on what EXACTLY you are taking. St Johns Wart can cause many (dangerous & semi-dangerous)
interactions, not just with Ambien, but other medications & conditions!
I did try St. Johns Wart, when I was going through the first stages of my depression/bi-polar/panic attacks, many years ago. I didn't feel any changes using St. Johns Wart, & I had stuck with it for approximately one year. The risks outweighed the benifits (for me ) due to new conditions, & other medications that I had to take.
PLEASE, do be carful, & check with your doctor!
All the luck, & good health to you!
