I have had the virus now for 3 months and this is the worst time i have ever had it . I now have it on my face wich has never happened before .
Any chance you are taking a vitamin D supplement?
I am having herpes outbreaks since I started on a dose of 50,000IU of D2 monthly because my level is quite low.
But, it doesn't seem to matter how strong the dosage is for me to have those outbreaks, because I had them when taking calcium with vitamin D added to it.
Usually I only have once a year outbreaks, so I am very upset and I know it is upsetting for you to be having prolonged outbreaks.
I am sorry I don't know about the effects on the brain, though.
If you have not seen an infectious disease doctor, seeing one may provide more help. The amino acid L-Lysine also helps with herpes outbreaks and it may also help you, of course you have to ask your doctor about taking any new meds or supplements, just thought I would suggest these 2 things. It kind of sounds like something else is going on as this virus usually doesn't stick around for this long, infectious disease specialist will know the answer to how this outbreak is affecting your brain, and they often pick up on unusual conditions and causes. I sure hope you get better very soon, and I am saying some Prayers for you. Pattishan61
I am sorry to know that someone else is suffering from the pain of shingles. I have also suffered for about 6 weeks. The location of my outbreak was different ( left thigh, back, waist,) and pain on my left side, chest and arm although I did not have blisters in those areas. A good friend who happens to be a nurse tells me to take at least 1000 mg of vitamin C and at least 1000 mg of fish oil capsules daily because this helps to boost the compromised imune system that is one of the factors for getting shingles. I don't know what the effect of shingles is to the brain, I could only imagine the headaches burning pain you must experience,( I also have constant burning pain). Maybe you should see a neuroligist for an evaluation to determine what meds would best help. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
