Hello everyone! I just first want to say I am so very proud of a lot of people for kicking this and staying clean! I started Methadone last January and am not detoxing 10mg every 3 days! Its so hard right now. I was taking 100mg per day for months! My parents found out what I was doing and are now keeping me home with them until I'm better. I drop to 20mg tomorrow and have been pretty sick. My stomach is in knots and I don't have any xanex or anything to take. They want me taking NOTHING! I took some imodium and that's not helping along with tums and acid reducers. Does anyone have any other ideas to help me? I want to go from 10mg to nothing. Has anyone done this before? Thanks everyone and please keep up the amazing work! I envy u all!!
Gosh, I don't think going from 10 mg. to zero is the thing to do. No doubt others will respond... I'm really new to this site but I've gotten some really
great help form a few members regarding my methadone taper. I haven't been on the doses you've been on, but I'm tapering about 1 1/2 mg. every 7-8 days. I've had lots of muscle pain, chills, sweats, but the muscle thing has been the worst of it.
Are you saying you have diarrhea, thus the Immodium? Can you or your
parents call a doctor for you? Why do you want to jump from 10 mg. to zero, ... I'd suggest a couple of mgs./week at best. Hope things get better for you!
Hi jessicaAnne. I'm really sorry to hear about your problem. Who came up with this taper plan for you? It's much too fast of a taper and the backlash can be serious. Have your parents spoke with a professional yet? I would look up information about detoxing off of methadone and print it out for your parents to read. It MUST be done under a doctors supervision and at a pace that is physically and emotionally safe for you. Please print out as much information as you can find and have your parents read it. Were you going to a clinic? If so, contact the clinic and let them know what is going on. There's medications that can help you through this but you really need to see a doctor. Please encourage your parents to get some help for you. In the mean time, if you could fill in some details, we might be able to help some more. Hang in there and please post again.
