... positive in the urine test but not the hair test. She is on the following medications but I can't find a site that tells me if any of these pills can show a false positive for methadone. We talked to the pharmacist and he said go online and I still can't find anything. Can someone please help me she has had her custody suspended because of this test. Medications: proair hfa inhaler, seroquel, morphine sulfate, alprazolam, combivent INH, oxycontin, Azithromycin, Cymbalta, florastor, hydrocodon-acetaminophen, levaquin, metronidazole, omeprazole-bicarb
Methadone has a very specific metabolite and usually doesnt come up as a false positive but it can sometimes. Since her custody of her kids is on the line she should request confirmation by GC-MS or gas chromatography-mass spectometry test. it is an expensive test but it is the gold standard test to disprove false positives. It is a very expensive test and she may be required to pay for it but it may be well worth it to her since custody is on the line.
Hey DzooBaby, is it possible the morphine sulfate created the false positive? That is just a guess on my part, I know you are so good with these types of med questions, just wondered myself. Quickie pee in the cup tests can be flawed, for one thing, they are shipped in huge boxes in the back of big trucks, that are not temperature regulated, this is why my counselor says some become damaged and give false readings. Even if it is a mail to the lab test, human errors can occur ranging from misreads to mixed id's, Dzoo is definitely right about which test is THE most accurate, not sure how she could get them convinced to run it tho. Tell your sister to get her attorney to fight them and demand it, especially since hair didn't show it, she may have grounds to sue for the court to order and pay for it. I'll be saying some prayers for her.pattishan
I can't answer your question but those three drugs morphine sulfate, oxycontin, and hydrocodon-acetaminophen should not be taken together. All three of those are for medium to severe pain and if she's taking all three at once, somethings wrong. Sorry I couldn't help but notice that and say something.
