... never felt before. I think my biggest symptoms were the mood and the tiredness. But then durign the second month and beginning of the third I got really sick (pertussis). I have since recovered from pertussis (though still have the chronic cough) and have never really gone back up to where I was the first month of synthroid! Do illnesses affect hypothyroidism like that?
Also, I took the synthroid wrong one day (took it with getorade instead of water) and that made it worsen everything (got super tired and depressed the next few days). Can one really be so sensitive to synthroid?
I have also been eating a lot more fiber than I used to in the morning (about an hour after taking synthroid) I've heard that can affect it too.
Just trying to figure everything out.
Would appreciate some insight.
I take Synthroid 0.88mg. I don't have any side effects on this med. But when I feel tired and get other symptoms of hypothyroid it is time to change my dosage. It takes time to get the right balance for your thyroid. You should not be tired when it is balanced properly. I just saw my Endocronologist a few days ago and she changed it to a higher dose because I was a little tired and my metabolism is very slow right now. I take my Synthroid with water when I get up and eat breakfast half and hour after. Hope this helps.
They have to check mine every 3 mos, and it keeps falling. Im at 50mcg now. Most of the time I have no energy. I don't know whats going on with mine and the doc hasn't been much help with answers.
I just started taking 50mcg of Synthroid after a month of an Iodine supplement only. I've been on both meds now for about 4 days and feel much better but I'm still wary of how things will progress. Have you spoken to your doctor about taking an Iodine supplement? Mine is pharmaceutical grade from the doctor's office and not an OTC one but it contains 5mg as molecular iodine, 5mg as sodium iodide and 2.5mg as potassium iodide for a complete total of 12.5mg Iodine. My dr said the iodine helps the body to absorb and use the synthroid more effectively. You do need to be followed by a physician to monitor your levels but it may be something to discuss with your doctor to see if you could try it.
