they just put me on effexor and then I go back for the other meds one he said would be a possible shot, but he will try for something that starts with a s. Sorry was in shock I also got out of hospital they thought i had a stroke then noticed it was the mb enzyms were high due to the ms
I believe the s drug may be Solu-Medrol, also known as methylprednisolone or just prednisone. Prednisone is a powerful anti-inflamatory drug used to treat the inflammation in multiple sclerosis attacks (exacerbations).
Prednisone is a steroid. More information can be found by googling:
"prednisone multiple sclerosis".
I am on this site for MS. I was diagnosed in 2007 and was on Avonex for a little over than 2 years. I haven't been able to get used to the fatigue and the flu like symptoms it cause, nor the idea of giving myself I muscle deep shot. So I have decided to switch to Copaxone. I thought I had a stroke too or had brain cancer, but to my surpise and relief (in a way) it was none of the above. Good luck!
I am also on this site for M.S. feed back it is a good support group when we can all come together and give encouragement to each other. M.S. has changed my life I am still having a very hard time dealing with the diagnosis, the fatigue and pain and now having a hard time walking. I used to snorkel and run the beaches work out and was a massage therapist. Now I have moved to colder climate because of the heat intolerance. I am trying to be positive and re-invent myself, I could use all the feedback from anyone with same feelings.
