I'm on disability, actually at my age, 65, it has reverted to SS and I'm on Medicare. I don't qualify for Medicaid in Alabama because my income is over $950.00, or whatever it is here. My question: I have so many drug, doctor and hospital bills that there is no possible way to pay them. What happens to someone in a situation like this? Will the hospital and doctors refuse to treat me because I can't pay? I can't even afford my drugs and have enough left over to pay everyone at least SOMETHING. I feel terrible about this which doesn't help my physical problems. I'm fast approaching the point that I wont be able to live alone and take care of myself. Is there any hope or will I just be kicked aside?
Chance1945, Don't give up please. The majority of hospitals in this great land have free or reduced fee programs where you can get some help paying for hospital bills and some doctors are associated with those hospitals and may take you for a discount if you use them, you could check with your local hospitals and see if they have these programs. As for your meds alot of manufacturers have programs and there is another one and I will list it here for you at the end. Do you have family that can help you at all? Have you done a Medicaid appeal yet? I hope you can find some relief with your local hospitals and the info I promised is here good luck I have been there and it is no fun remember don't give up, marjorie zych
