I recently moved to Va. My problem is that I have been seeing the same Dr. for 20 years and now moving I need to get another Dr. that is not afraid to write my scripts.I have been on some pretty heavy duty meds seeing as I have had this problem for 22 years. To make a long story short... when I tell them what I am on, they almost pass out.and are not without personal comment... I need to find a Dr. desperately who is not afraid to write what works for me... If anyone can suggest a Dr. pain management or deals with chronic pain please drop me a line. I will even go to any of the states surrounding Va.Thanks... Equine29
Is your old doctor willing to write a letter explaining your condition and why you need these meds? It's hard to find a doc willing to write scripts for strong meds until you build up a repore' with them. My best advice would be get help from your old doc. You should have anticipated this problem before you moved and asked your doc for a referral or letter ahead of time. I don't mean to lecture, sorry. But so many people abuse these meds. It's hard to find a good doc who isn't skeptical in the beginning. Good luck on your search. Did you bring all your records and xrays, print out from the pharmacy with you?
Hope you find a cooperative doc very soon,
Go to a major hospital with a pain management clinic tell them the truth bring a letter from the doc who prescribes for you now along with your records. There should be no reason a good doctor who is familiar with different pain conditions should not help you with your scripts. Interview the doctor do not let them interview you. You want someone who is going to be there for you and you deserve to know what their method of practice is. Good luck and god bless
Hey y'all thanks for responding so quickly... I had my Dr. write referral letters, and I am armed with all my medical records before I came here..problem is that the state of Va. is gun ho, no narcotic medication..If they will write it ,they seem to think that I am new to this and they haven't a clue how to handle this situation..I have been going back and forth every month to see my Dr.for over a year and a half. I'm getting tired and my body does not hold up to the travel like in the beginning..This is all a very long story but, bottom line is that I am on a PAP that very shortly is going to cut me off if I can't find a Dr. down here. They can even be 1 state over from Va. in any direction.Well, it's almost time to panic...
